Joanna brings the natural, sensual quality of brazilian portuguese back into bossa-nova with songs from the forthcoming album Primavera.

Born and still based in Girona, Spain, she spent her childhood between Portugal and Catalonia.

At 9 years old she began to study dance and jazz, later studying at the School of Modern Music and Jazz in Girona and Taller de Musics in Barcelona. She recorded the cd Inquieta at the age of 18 with Miguel Sala and toured Cuba on several occasions with the Selva Big Band.

After playing in various local groups she travelled to London to study at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and returned home to form her own music academy in St. Gregori.

Recently Joanna has performed at local jazz festivals in Spain with the Joanna Ferrer Group, apart from giving classes and working with theatre groups.

She speaks English, Spanish, Catalan, Portuguese and French.
